What is the best way to prep and prime panels for storage. I have a few panels for my van project that are perfect but covered in very light surface rust. I was going to sand then treat with KBS Rust Blast but need to coat them and store until ready for use. Bear in mind I dont have a spray booth so nastie 2k products are a no no at the moment.

Rust blast for sure.
I've had my doors and bonnet etc in that in storage for a while now and all is good!

I just used Prepsol all over the bare steel Rodtech front end for my HK so I can dummy it all up before pulling apart again to paint it. Has stayed pretty good for a year now while I work on other stuff.

I would seal it up with 2k etch primer despite not having a booth. Just need disposable overalls, carbon filter mask, goggles, gloves. Temperature 20C or above and humidity under 60%.

The Epotec doesn’t have as many nasties in it and is very popular amongst project builders. It is impervious to water and you can apply polyester filler over it, as well as most paints when the time comes. Just need to key it prior to application of acrylic lacquer surfacer filler if you are painting with acrylic. My 2c worth.

I agree, 2k epoxy primer is the best way to go.

Thanks Clay. I have been following Martys builds for a few years and thats what I thought. He lives not far from me and I was thinking of catching up with him sometime to get the low down on how he goes with it. We are building a new home at the moment and my new workshop is prob 12 months down the track and the van is in my sons garage so I am a bit limited with what I can do at the moment.

Cheers Brett. I'd probably just wait and sand them when you can etch but then I'm lazy. You could spray with WD40 in the interim then degrease before any prep.
