Thought I'd start a prickly topic because I've seen it mentioned a few times on this and other forums by a couple of members (who appear to be credible) that XU1 bodies are different to the GTR/2 door body shells, and that "if you know what to look for" there is a difference. I also appreciate that if this is true, that those finer details should be kept discreet (not hidden) as there are unscrupulous people out there craving these details in order to perfectly fake XU1 cars which in the long term destroys the credibility and value of the whole muscle car industry. Having said that, I also think that it is a vital for those experienced forum members to pass on this information (if its true) to credible XU1 owners but NOT on an open forum. A very high % of XU1 owners would be well above 50 years old. Be a dying shame not to share this knowledge. We all have the ability to send PM's.

It is the same with the L34's. I am glad I got to have a long talk on the subject with Wayne before he died.

No different to the collectable HK, HT and HG (81837 variants). Some have unique body shells, others just have changes specific to the top spec car. And then factor in the body shell variations between the multiple body plants building them (Pagewood, Dandenong, Elizabeth, Acacia Ridge plus South Africa). To the trained eye the shells are different. And you get the same thing with other Holdens, particularly HQ-HZ chassis rails and how they are put together let alone the body shells. I don't think anyone is going to publish how to pick the differences, just enables the crooks.
