hi just put in my new motor it has a big solid camshaft 246/246 @ 50 it dosent want to change gears its stuck in first gear.its a built 6 trimatic it goes into park neutral and reverse.even manual shifting it wont change gears.i put in a new adjustable modulator at the standard settings still the same.when i had my old motor in my car it had a small camshaft and it shifted every gear great.how many turns of adjustments do i need to do on the modulator to get every gear.thank you.

Make sure your modulator tube isn't blocked. Was common back in the day for them to block up with carbon at the manifold end.

with a long duration camshaft with low vacuum could this be a problem also?will a manual valve body fix the problem.

Not sure if this is much help but yes long duration cam shafts can cause problems with autos but having said that if you have not touched the adjustment screw on the modulator you could try turning it about an 1/8 -1/4 of a turn at a time. 

Clockwise for early shifts

Counterclockwise for late shifts....according to the web.

yes we have tried all the adjustments 1/4 turn at a time up to 3 full turns no difference im taking my car to a auto transmission shop .

a transmission specialist told me that long duration cam shaft with low manifold vacuum a big stall converters wont shift gears properly he said to manulized the box .i got 2 prices for a manulized trimatic 6 valve body $500 and $600 and a transbrake $1200.so i be buying the full manual valve body.
