Still haven't decided on a colour
Go for a late model Mazda or Toyota hue to make it stand out from the crowd.

If you want a classy metallic colour that's in the same genre as the above, you still don't NEED to stray from period correct Holden colours.
- Supermint
- Aquamarine
- Windsor Blue
All bloody incredible colours that are set off perfectly with some blackouts.
I cannot think of another car in the world with as good a palette as a mid 70's Holden.

Heath is right, there were some nice colours in the early-mid 70's. They went a bit bland towards the end of the 70's though. The final HQ colour chart (A621-A622) had a lot of nice colours like Orchid, Saffron, Chrome Yellow, Azure Blue and Sunburst. Plus some polarising colours that some love like Barbados Green. As you move through the 70's there are some real standouts on each colour chart too but the bulk are vanilla. Colours like Papaya, Royal Plum, Valencia, Caribbean Turquoise and Ultra Blue really stand out amongst Durham Beige, Mojave Beige, Antelope etc which are very neutral. Even though it doesn't look so flash on a standard car I really like Royal Plum on a car like a A9X replica with blackouts. Bordeaux would look pretty cool as well.

Do you want to sell that nosecone? Are the badge holes on the left side factory or have you drilled them? I thought by the time the badge had moved over there, the indicators had been raised. (Oct '74?) Those nosecones are getting bloody hard to find with the low indicator holes.
Did you cut the guards at all or are you just bolting the flares over the top? What size wheels and tyres are you going for?

The right hand holes held a chrome torana badge ,original l believe for an SL 253.
Guards cut ,love the tough group C look .
8x15 front, 10x15 rear .
Thanks mate for your interest.

Some great progress shots there Greg, can’t wait to see another cool hatchback on the road. I do like the race livery look, keep the pics rolling. Cheers.

Somebody on FB was selling an alloy bolt-in cage the other day for a hatch, not sure if it's still available but would do the trick visually. Was about $6-800 from memory.
