Problem is you’ll need a stronger diff and bigger exhaust.

Looking at the Blueprint engines range of engines and they do a nice 383 @ 430hp and 450 ftpds of torque complete carby, dizzy etc for $12,000. Bout the best available option I have seen so far.

Yes, good value. But there are other bargains around for similar money in a SBC like this: https://www.ebay.com...A8AAOSw~bBfeKtX
I'd still consider a near standard fatty with roller cam. Will last forever and give you 450hp all day. Will need new extractors though.

The engine you linked is in USA so would be a PITA to get shipped here etc. has similar power to the Blueprint one I am looking at.

The one I linked is in Liverpool NSW. The reason I liked it is it is a new block, 4” bore. All US parts, no Chinese junk.

Hell yeah that is good value. Might have to ask him a bit more about it. Thanks for keeping an eye out Yel :-)
Wish I could post up some pics of the car now i have it. Got some new Autodrags on the back and it has transformed the car into a beasty look already...

I am just finishing off my 355 to sell then that will open up my choices as far as a replacement Chev engine goes. Can also sell the engine currently in my Quey which is a 350 010 block with double hump heads, small cam and Weiend dual plane intake. I am guessing it would be around the 280hp mark and should fetch me 3-4k complete.

Without knowing your cam, valve or compression you’d have to be looking somewhere slightly north of 300hp though, maybe 325-330 depending upon if the heads and cam work together.
Note that the 300hp L48 as fitted to HT-HG typically chassis dyno up over 200hp at the rear wheels. I have seen a 40,000 mile HG with a 3.08 rear axle make about 210hp.
$2500-$4000 should be achievable, especially if people can drive it and see it working. Get it chassis dynoed, will help sell it too.

What parts/mods have you got in the 355 & price?

The 355 is fresh rebuild still on my engine stand. Sourced a VP 304 block modified all the oil return passages, bored 30", torque plane honed, line bored for studded mains, acid dipped, new welsh plus etc.
Reused a set of SRP forged pistons I had, fit new Hastings rings, machined a Pro-stroke (Chev 350) crank I had tucked away and rebalanced all rotating assembly. Fit new fully floating Eagle I beam rods, and all new bearings throughout the engine.
Heads are VT, full hand port to flow around 500hp, New stainless valves and fully recoed to suit my set up. Brand new Yella Terra adjustable shaft mounted bolt on roller rockers.
Has a new Camtech 235/245 (550/560 lift) hydraulic flat tappet cam I chose which suits forced induction. Hardened Manly pushrods to suit cam. New JP oil pump I have also modified for better flow and pressure.
The engine was built to take a whipple but now I am not going down that path so it doesn't suit my new car unfortuntely as I really wanted to finish this off. Also comes with a stud girdle but couldn't fit it under a standard sump so took it off but can come with the engine if wanted along with the longer studs to suit.
The engine will be complete bar a inlet manifold. It owes me 8k in parts and machine work. If you are interested, message me.

Fudge that is a great buy. Only thing stopping me at the moment is I need to sell the 355 first. I bolted the heads on at the weekend. Just waiting for my new rollers to turn up and she is all finished and ready to sell. Unfortunately a 3 week wait from Yella Terra for the rollers as stock has been so low due to them closing down through the COVID period..

It is always the way, when you aren't quite ready to buy, everything is for sale. When you are cashed up, nothing is available....

So I managed to sell my 355 soon to be cashed up. I am seriously considering the Pavtek 383 package they have for sale. It is a dyno proven 504hp and 485ftpds of torque. Got lots of good bits in it too. At $15,650 I think it is reasonable. Already run in and engine dynoed so ready to drive.
I will have my 010 350 with double hump heads, Weiand dual plane manifold, 600 Holley, all dress gear and dizzi coming up for sale in the next couple of weeks. No oil leaks. No idea of internals though but does appear to have a very small cam too. Do you think $4000 is reasonable.

Yeah that one has been for sale for a while now. Well the ad has been up for a while. I think I will stick with the Pavteck engine as I had one of their 355's in the VP I just sold. Knowing everything is brand new and has been run in a dyno tuned makes it very attractive to me. I could probably build one myself for less but it isn't worth the hassle I reckon.

So bit the bullet and purchased the Pavtek 500hp 383. Should have it next week. Be interesting to compare it to the 500hp 355 of theirs I had in my VP. Both engines had a manual gearbox behind them and i think the HQ would be similar in weight to the VP.

New engine in, all steering and suspension joints refurbed. Engine bay painted gloss black instead of satin just to spruce things up a bit. If only I could post up pics to show you all...
