Hi all , so I've fitted up the motor , gearbox and tailshaft , but noticed the shifter is very much off centre, is this normal for the Opel box?i have the Opel gearbox mount and think I have the engine mounts correct . Shouldn't the shifter be central to the hole ?

Paul, I suspect that is probably normal with the return spring pulling the shifter across in neutral.

When the rubber boot is installed it should keep the stick centralised.

Most important is where is the stick positioned when in all the gears.

If you can select all gears without the stick fouling inside the opening then all should be good.

Then just a matter of fitting the rubber boot and ensuring all gears can still be selected.

Hi, is that hole in the floor a lot smaller than what we normally see?

Col, the opel uses an adaptor plate that reduces the hole in the tunnel down to a round hole for the opel rubber boot.

Dave , the shifter does hit the side of the hole though.I think everything is right nothing seems bent ,there's no adjustment other than the adaptor plate which is bugger all.

Can the adaptor plate be turned around? Would it make a difference?

Going by that pic Arrimar, it looks like it's well over to one side , probably makes sense as to why the LCGTR console is offsett.Tony I'm not sure that would make that much difference, it's fixed onto one place on the tunnel.
