Back to the fuel system. I may regret crossing paths with this car.... I ripped the fuel tank out to discover a pretty horrendous state of affairs. I can summarise by simply saying this:

Wanted To Buy: Fuel tank and sender unit assembly to suit VR V8 IRS sedan. Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

And seriously - I'd appreciate any leads on where to find a good tank.

I'm yet to decide if I should post photos or not!

Hopefully they are not as bad as the VN V8 tanks.. .one of them will set you back a min of $500.

Perhaps a fuel cell in the boot instead?

Are VN V8 tanks worth that much? Really? I have one in the shed, only reason it hasn’t gone to scrap yet is other stuff has been easier to reach so far! Will have to stick it on Gumtree. It is a leftover from an EFI conversion, came with the VP SS I wrecked for the driveline. Has straps and pump too. I scrapped everything else though, only this plus some EFI stuff I kept.

Yes they are.

The cool kids refer to them as "drop tanks".

What other worthless VN gear you got laying around you want to sell me?

All gone. Anything that wasn’t Holden went in the scrap bin, anything 6cyl or smaller than 5 litres went too. Sold most Torana stuff that I didn’t scrap, almost anything Commodore scrapped too. Only kept EFI stuff for conversions. I do have a bit of V2 stuff that were spared for my V2 I’ll sell when I get time, although have a mint pair of black V2 CV8 seats I’m keeping for my HK. There might be some NOS Commodore stuff floating around but mostly VB-VH, but it doesn’t take up any space.

Note, the straps for the IRS are different if you decide to advertise it.  The plastic protective covers are also sought after.

I'm guessing that's only the long range tank, not the standard one?

Correct mate, the larger V8 tanks only.

This tank came out of a VN V8. I pulled it out, it was at the same place the VP SS came from. I had the diff too, was a 3.08 LSD IIRC, I kept the axles and scrapped the housing and centre.
