Does anyone have diagrams about the seat flaps and how it all goes together. My hatch is missing the flaps but I am unsure about how they operate. any help is appreciated

Hi belly67.  Sorry I don't have any dimensions but Resto Country sell aftermarket flaps and if you have a look at their site it has a diagram of how they fit. Cheers Ron

Just to save you some searching, I think this is the pic that Ron is referring to...

Thanks for that info. Do the flaps just hinge upward and basically jam between the rear of the seat and the back of the steel that runs across the car? Unsure what they are supposed to do when the seats are down.

I think they just sit at the back of the hatch area and when the seats are fully folded forwards they act as a fill-in the gap between the back of the seat and the hatch area so you can "potentially" lie in that area.  But I'm only guessing. Cheers Ron

When the seats fold forward (aka down) the flaps lock into a ledge on the floor section behind, which serves two purposes, it locks the seats in the down position to stop them bouncing around and it fills in the gap between the seat and the floor.

From one of the original promos...

And while I've got the video loaded up, the reason for the split floor...

Nice work with the GIF's Andrew.

And bloody hell Mick, you have a keen pair of eyes!

That is some serious spotting.

Please don't comment on my build thread and find flaws in my car that I'm not aware of.  :spoton:

Heath, didn't you say somewhere along the line that there is a difference between LX and UC in this area?

Yep, the height of the tonneau floor was changed in the UC, and the rear seat hinges changed accordingly.

I believe it may also be related to the rear wheel arch braces being deleted as well, but I'm not sure why they made all these changes, might have been structural or cost-saving, or maybe something to do with luggage area, who knows?

I do not know if the flaps are the same or different, but it wouldn't blow my mind if they were different.

The rear seats themselves are identical, as best I can tell.

The rear floor height is absolutely different.

The rear seat hinges are absolutely different.

Whether the flaps are the same or not, I just do not for sure.

I certainly had to make a custom pair for my own car when I changed the floor height, but that doesn't mean that the standard LX hatch floor doesn't make the same size flaps from the UC work somehow.

Haha, phew!
