Hi all.  Thought I would get one of the front seats back together and when I started fitting up the underside I wondered how durable the original thin cables would be.  I now know, not so. So instead of perservering with the others I'm going to replace them with something else.  Given these are rigid metal and not just flexible wire, I'm wondering what I should use as replacement and/or what have others done.  Cheers Ron

I haven't used it for seat controls, but the plastic coated trace wire for fishing comes in handy for all sorts of jobs like that. The 50kg rated one is still a very small diameter wire, and tackle shops also sell the lead crimps and pliers for installing it.

Thanks Laurie.  My son is a keen fisherman and I'm sure he's got some of that stuff.  I'm not sure if the wire needs to be rigid or not so will have to do some trials.  Cheers Ron

Thanks guys.  I had a quick try with some welding wire. It works to a degree but I think it needs to be rigid to get enough tension on it so there isn't any slack. Will keep trying.  Cheers Ron

Piano wire is what you need to re-manufacture those things.

RC Model/Hobby shops should have 1m long straight lengths in various grades in stock.
