I don’t normally follow the Supercars series. But I do watch Bathurst each year. However I didn’t even know it was on this year. I’ve not seen or heard boo about it? To much Trump drinking Corona consuming the media outlets perhaps?

At least there was 1 Torana amongst them (good to seea mini in there too). A shame that all the cars never got much tv coverage though, only the front runners.

Anyway, happy Bathurst weekend :)

The Monaro is a replica, good vision anyway.

Interesting to see the speed of the Tilley Mustangs in relation to Group C and A cars. Same 1-2 result on Friday.

And none of it bettering this (courtesy of Autopics - I really have to buy a large version of this image):

End of Conrod on lap 5 or 6. Nothing but GTS327’s. And at the end of the race, not even excluding the West/Marks car that actually finished first or second, 4 of the top 5 places were GTS327’s, and proper GTS327’s too not purpose built race cars.

Cute photo but I don’t remember a Monaro ever winning by six laps and setting a new lap record on the final lap?

The 1979 HDT Brock/Richards Torana SS A9X victory remains the most dominant Bathurst performance of all time.

Yes agree it was dominant. But it was dominant over other Toranas. The Monaros in 1968 and 1969 had real manufacturer backed competition especially 1969 beating the mighty GT-HO’s. To me the better Torana win was 1972 when it achieved a similar feat.
In many ways 1968 and 1979 were similar though when you look at what was next after all the Monaros and Tirana’s. 4cyl stuff.

I don't think anything will ever beat Brock coming over the top on that final lap with his arm on the window sill waving to the crowds. No-one up there suspected it would be a lap record, Brock looked like he was just having fun.
