Hi Guys and girls , I purchased a wilwood brake master cylinder from Summit in Dec 19 the master is not quite one year old and it has failed . Ive contacted wilwood several times they do not make a rebuild kit for it . I have sent several photos of leaks and fluid running down the k frame !! They now want me to take a video of it leaking which is a pain in the bum as it leaks out over a 6 -10 hour period . What do people reckon i really want a refund and take it off as its no good and cant be rebuilt ? Where do i stand ?? thanks any help much appreciated !!

I would take it of and send it back to have it inspected/tested.

Hi biga064,

Take up the negotiation with Summit as to a refund or replacement,
I take it you have kept all your original purchase receipts from new.

If Summit dont offer a refund, or replacement part - not that you want a replacement if a repair kit is unavailable.

Then you could engage Department of Fair Trading (Consumer Affairs) in the state the Item was purchased.
Explain the Situation to the Dept. That the part has failed inside of the warranty period (whatever that is).
But you have to of attempted the resolution with Summit first, keep all correspondence with Summit and even the Manufacturer as evidence.

I speak from experience in having purchased, Not Fit for Purpose items, where the supplier was at fault, not being able to reslove my complaint with the supplier.
I am in Qld, having bought items from a supplier in NSW, so I engaged Dept.of Fair Trading in NSW. I got a successful resolution to my delemma, but had to go that extra mile for it.
It was only a small dollar part, but in principle was worth all the effort.

Jaso.

Have you tried dealing with Summit instead of Wilwood, Summit might have a simpler way being such a big company

All too hard

Lesson learned I think.... buying stuff from O/S comes with its own risks

Got pic of cyl ?

Many can be rebuilt locally with local sourced parts

Fair trading can’t help with international purchases.

Did you pay with a credit card? They may be able to help you.

What Datto said ^ we often get brake m/c's rebuilt and it usually ends up easier and cheaper.

PayPal is just a service to conceal your credit card details.

You have paid with a credit card, see if they can assist you with reversal of payment for “goods not fit for purpose”.
