50 series would look much much better, as a 235, i believe that a 60 series would look not so good.

Agree, 235/60/13 would be too big in OD, and 235/50/13 would be too small in OD.

Hi All, instead of creating another thread, i am tacking onto this one.

Looking to buy new tyres for my car, I was wondering if a 215,235×50×13 front/rear tyre combo may fit the 6inch sprintmaster rims. Just to give the car a fatter stance look.

Looking at the Nankang tyre table S pack(Dave) posted back in 2020, i guess its answered my question (7 or 7.5 inch rim).

Also the seller (ebay) of tyres i pictured, commented when asked,
"HI
ON OUR RIM AND TYRE PAGE IT SAYS
RECOMMENDED ON A 7"
PERMITTED ON A 6.OOB - 6.00J - 6.50J"

Has anyone had 215/235 50s on a 6" sprintmaster?

TIA :)

Jaso

Jaso, I had 225/60x13 Eagers on 6" sprinty's on the rear of my LJ for many many years and no tyre fitter ever said the 225 was too big for a 6" wide rim but I think the 235 might be stretching the friendship.

When my last set of Eagers needed replacing I wanted to get the 215/60x13 Yokohama's but I missed getting some by a month or so.

225 tyres look really nice and square on 8"s.

Could I recommend sourcing some of those delicious wider aftermarket Sprintmasters, and then fitting these tyres?

Back in the late 80’s I used to run 235 / 50 Eagers on CSA 6 inch spritmasters on the rear. No one ever told me not to and I was getting new tyres every 4 or 5 months.

Thanks heaps for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

S pack Dave, stretching beyond the 6"limits with a 235 tyre is worth noting, and not wanting to waste $$ on something i can't use.
Maybe just using a 215/50 all round may have to do.
I understand the rolling diameter is going to throw the speedo out too, by a few K's.
What did a 225/60/13 Eager tyre look like, say compared to a 205-215/60/13 sidewall, aspect ratio? Baggy or same?

Heath, I was not planning on buying another set of rims, just wanted to get the widest possible on my 6" sprinties without dramas. But a 225 tyre, does such an animal exist, i have not searched that avenue yet?

Brian, 80's tyre fitters may be different to todays? But hey I'll ask my local the question too.
But as Dave above mentioned, it may stretch the freindship. I dont intend visiting them every 5 months either ..LOL.

Cheers again gents... :) let me do some more thinking here.

Jaso, a 215/50 will throw your speedo out by more than a couple of k's. I think I worked out the closest rolling dia to the original tyres fitted to the sprintmasters is a 215/60/13.

Just to clarify, I said that 225 tyres fit nicely on 8"s, not 6"s, haha.

If you fit wide tyres to cheese cutters, they seem to move around a bit transversely on the wheel... so the car has a slower steering response... feels a bit doughy. I also don't think it looks very nice with a concave tapering sidewall, but that is just personal preference. If you want to make the car look "fat", it's really not possible with cheese cutters. The tyres alone won't really do it without the offset and the dish.

Irrespective of your initial plans, those deep dish, wider Sprintmasters do look bloody mint. Exhibit a:

Hi Jaso,

Bit of feedback from tyres on the 6" sprintmasters that I have had over the years.

Heading back to the 80s I had 205/60/13 Bridgestone Steel Belted 60s, i really liked the look of these good width and filled the guards well.

When these wore out I went Yokohama 352 in the same size which were also good, same sort of look.

Interestingly even though the tyres were the same size the bridgestones were a slightly bigger wall size and width and would occasionly rub especially the drivers side rear.

When these went I went Bridgestone Eagers in 215/50/13 these tyres were good but from a looks perspective totally different look, as Heath mentions, concaved tapering sidewall which I wasn't as keen on. Never had any issues getting them fitted though. I still have 2 of these so happy to take a photo if you like but will take a couple of weeks as in offsite storage.

Back then you good get a 225/60/13 but was worried about rubbing

Personally on these old cars with smaller diameter rims I like a tyre with a bigger sidewall. the 205/60/13 suiting the look I wanted.

Thread hijack here now though I am looking for some new tyres as now use a 7" rim and want to go 205/60/13 again.

What are people using? I have done some research and not a lot of options.

Is the Yokohama Advan A048 any good as a road tyre? also I have seen the Falken ZE912 which appears to be Ok.

Don't want to go BF Goodrich, scary in the wet or were back in the 80s

Cheers,

John

Cheers again Dave, Heath, John..

FWIW, from your all your valued inputs, I've been talked down off the ledge 215/235 50 13 on 6"rims:)

I have 205/60/13 NancyKangs fitted on my rims now, that are aged, more than worn.

John i dont mind your thread hijack, as I too would like to know same, whats Hot and wots Not.

Also, food for thought... im not keen on directional tyres either. So in my searches only looking for something to be fitted in any rotational position and able to be flipped on rims if required. ;)

I think that your best bet wil be to settle for 205's and get the Faulken's if you are staying with 6" rims.

What are Falkens like??...

Also what are Federals Like??
I called St George Tyres today about The Federal SS 595. Its Tread is directional, but tyre can be also flipped on rims if needed.
Bit of a pain in ass to do a diagonal tyre rotation and have to flip tyres on rims.

That $129 price on ebay is also dearer than St George Tyres web page direct online price of $110. Go figure.

What tyres are suited to the 13x7 sprintmasters that'll keep a similar overall diameter?

I was happy with the Faulken tyres. They're non directional too so a tyre rotation won't be a problem.

I was told some time ago the Falken ZE912 205/60/13 are NLA. When I looked up the Falken Tyres web site I couldn't find a listing for the 205/60/13.

205/60/13s can go on 7” rims , i ran em for about 5 years on the cyan girl,
6” 205/60/13 front and 7” 205/60/13 rears. 2 spacers on the front and 1 on rear.
