Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get some opinions on this fella

https://www.facebook...42005523702029/

Standard LH/LX width and stud pattern

Are there as many options for 28 spline axles?

Thoughts on price?

Cheers

Dave

From memory my diff was $1600 from Rodtech. New housing for HK, 40mm narrower, HQ-WB spring perches and 28 spline Currie axles to suit HQ-WB drums. 31 spline was the same price.

I plan to get a new Strange centre built with Trutrac and 3.25 gears, but I have a perfect 3:1 LSD from an XC I’ve had for 25 years, so using it initially to set the car up hence why I went 28 spline.

That Torana one has to be an older conversion. If it was a new build (to sell) must have some corners cut, like maybe a VN axle and a cut down one for the other side?

That’s a fairly good price for a housing and axles but you need to know how the axles were made.

Last time I bought a housing and axles was about 8- 10 years ago. Cost me $1100 for brand new housing, billet axles with studs and fitted bearings.

Would be concerned about axles as has been sent.
The cheap conversions, they cut down and re spline.
They do other dodgey shit.

Plenty of centre options with 28 spline, alot use 32 for added insurance, little bigger spline diameter, bearing sizes between the 2 are the same.

There are 9 inch diffs and then there are 9 inch diffs

You get what you pay for. Chinese crap housings and cut down axles, or pay a reputable builder and do it properly. I almost spent the price of my car on my 9 inch, but I know its the best of the best.
