I'm resided to the fact that I will probably never get my hands on a set of LC 82911 door trim / rear trim stainless steel retainers.  The odd one turns up on eBay now and then and goes for a ridiculous amount of money, due to the old supply and demand issue.

I know the complexity of the bends of the front and back retainer trims have prevented these being re-produced to date, probably also the fact that there is a very limited market of LC GTR's and XU1's still needing these.

It looks a little incomplete and a little ugly without the stainless trims as below.

Has anyone come up with an alternative solution, even if it's only cosmetic?  They seem to sit okay without the retainers.

Was searching for a chrome u channel trim and found this example.  It will be of course only cosmetic and not screw to the door and hold the trim in place.  It might look okay-ish if I can find a compatible size.

Does anyone know how many mm of stainless trim hangs over the door card trim?  I'm guessing it's about 8 or so mm.

Pretty sure a guy on FB was reproducing these a while back. He was still asking a fair bit but better than scrounging for second hand.

I know some one who used Ford pieces on a XU1 clone. Not the same length, similar shape. Looks OK.

Hey thanks guy's, yeah I saw that too Dave, not sure if it's the same seller but there is one set for $2500 on Facebook.  That is only a few hundred bucks under what I paid for the whole car in 2001 Mic!

Ok will reach out to Tim thanks Marty will see what the damage is.

Hey Limo I do recall now that you mention it hearing about an early Ford having similar trims.  I will need to do some searching to find out what model, and maybe if it's more common will be a few thousand dollars less.

Ok yeah XW-XY door trim tops.  Look very similar, geez the Ford guy's are looked after with reproduction stuff $100 a set.  What a bargain.

From reading another post they are slightly short for front door.  If I can't get a reproduction LC set, for around $100 will give the XY one's a go.  Just don't tell anyone.  Well it's not really a Ford produced part it's a reproduction  :D.
