Hello all. I have just completed a search through the Holden historical society. ExSA GMH car. Great results except the eng No was not recorded. I live in Vic and I am going to do a search through SA Transport. Has anyone had any luck with SA transport with this sort of freedom for info search?. I'm not prepared to post my chassis or PSN on line. Is there anyone on here that can offer any help in regards to chasing up the original eng No and 1 st SA rego No or know someone that can. Happy to personal msg my details. Cheers and TIA

If the car’s engine number is recorded in the LH Service/Warranty records you may find it. But sometimes they aren’t recorded due to slack dealers. Sometimes there are mistakes too due to the selling dealer reading it wrong or writing it down wrong, or whomever entered it into the mainframe terminal at GMH misreading the dealer’s hand writing or typing it wrong when entering the info at the terminal keyboard. So it can be hit and miss. I have seen instances for example when the car’s engine number is say xx348844 but the Service/Warranty records show x348484, simply someone’s mild dyslexia at play.
There are only a few lots of the LH Service/Warranty ’fiche still in existence. Holden still have a set but who knows what has now happened to them. HHS have a copy as well but normally will only confirm your numbers which you don’t have to confirm.

Holden are useless. Then they won't give out the No anyway. That's why I thought I'd ask here. Someone may have had experience with SA transport.

If HHS has advised you the engine number was not recorded in the Vehicle Master List for your PSN then Holden will not be able to help you.

Unfortunately your original engine number may be lost forever.
