Spose it depends who's driving them - so many 'soccer mums' putting around town doing short trips in unnecessarily large 4x4s, or D'heads that just cant drive. We get heaps of blocked up diesels at work, particularly Navara's, iLoad/iMax and Mercedes.

Also funny you mention the POS CVT Xtrails, we have two of those and a Renault Koleos (built on the same platform as Xtrail) - all waiting for new transmissions...

True, and interesting. My wife is careful to take her X3 for a good long run regulary and I hammer it every chance I get too. The XTrail was a great car in every respect except that ridiculous gearbox and the way it was calibrated to the engine.
But back to rhetoric and, yes, I agree with it. Old cars only appeal to old blokes and they'll be worthless in 20 years. Especially Toranas cos no-one outside Aus knows what they are. When the Aussies with money, buying them currently, die that will be the end.

Just keep driving your cars boys. Don't lock em away till you die. Expose them to the general public so the younger generations can see them and fall in love with them like we did. Hide them and no-one will ever know what they are so the interest will diminish along with their value. I drive mine at least fortnightly. The graveyard is full of blokes our age so what are you waiting for. :driving:

Subaru Forester diesel has been a good car mechanically, with no issues over five years. Now trading it for pre dpf VJD76 so I can fit big surfboards and tow the odd car trailer. I hope it to out last my driving career.

Sounds fair. But also don't get the shits when old mate tells you what he thinks of your old car. That's life. Be in it.
