Hi all ,I've just been doing a little homework on the AC type glass fuel bowl pumps for 6 cylinder.
I purchased a fuel pump kit suited to a International Tractor, amazingly same two valves ,gaskets, spring .diaphram
There is a difference however in the diaphram shaft which is a smidgen longer .Would this make a difference to the operation of the fuel pump . These kits are less than half of what you would pay normally.
Have a great New Years people cheers Paul.

So apparently other vehicle manufacturers used AC glass fuel pumps not only GM which was news to me.

If the shaft on the diaphragm is not the correct length than I wouldn't use it. More than likely it will not give the correct pump stroke when coupled with the lever/arm to suit the Holden red 6

Doesn’t mean it wont work Dave sold a recon pump with that kit to a guy and he drove from Melbourne to Tfest in Sydney in his XU1

No problems at all sometimes it doesn't have to be by the book

I rebuilt a pump earlier this week using a kit in that PN branded box. It had a red diaphragm not a black one. Have you got the diaphragms pictured in front of the wrong boxes?
I didn't check the length of the diaphragm shaft though. Those kits from Auto Surplus look the same as what other vendors sell for quite a bit more.
I haven't used the pump yet, I'm a long way off doing so atm.

Didn't say it wouldn't work. Just that the distance between the diaphragm and the slot the lever/arm engages into has been engineered to suit the stroke characteristics of a particular arm which is not the same as the arm used on the Holden red 6 fuel pump.

No Gene ,Queensland tractor parts.

Hi James ,I used a PN brand kit to do mine as well ,the black one is an original AC diapram ,I just used for comparison .

Yes I was wondering this Dave ,it's only very slightly longer but might effect the pumping .

The pics are probably deceptive.Looks to be a bit more than a slight difference in length to me.

You can buy a high quality rebuild kit from Gavin @ classic carburetors in Beenleigh Brisbane, you can ask for the new brass welch plugs with the kit, sure they're more expensive, but he gets them done to spec in black, with higher grade of contents. It's not like you'll be buying them often. Worth the extra money to me.

Hi all , difference in the diaphragm shaft length between an original AC one and the International tractor kit.
I have already rebuilt my pump with a PN kit , this is just for future reference.
