Was an LC pedal and linkage on gumtree yesterday, gone already. The ad said LC GTR XU-1 of course but also said suit all LC. I don’t know but that photo could be HR.

Shown in the throttle linkages in the HK parts book. HD/HR most likely had the same set up.

A quick check of the LH Torana cattledog shows no mention of the throttle damper assy on manual or auto 4.2litre engines.

Perhaps this was only req'd on the high output big banger 6cyl  'S' engines. ^_^

I've never seen this stuff on a WW. They must have been something everybody took off and threw in the bin. I've had a few 186S and HT-HG 253 carbs over the years.

So is the throttle damper (dash pot ) really necessary ?

Should be fine without it. May just need to fiddle with the idle mixtures/idle speed to reduce the amount of stumble the engine suffers when suddenly returned to idle from a high rev.

Thanks everyone for the info on this ! Workshop manual only shows so much and knowledge is fading on these cars.

My thoughts you are better off without the throttle nudger. They inhibit engine braking. Modern drivers got lazy and just use throttle and brake with the advent of more powerful brakes. Leads to regular machining and replacement of wear components. I've driven over one million miles in my life and don't recall ever getting discs or drums machined. Current vehicle done over 120000 km and brakes are like new. End rant.
