Has anyone replaced the rubber bushes on the shifter levers as originally fitted to LJ Torana's. Rare's have bushes available to suit the HG 3 speed but I don't know if they'd also suit a LJ 4 speed shifter.

Part numbers, GSBK004 and GSBK002.

Thanks in advance.

Hi James,

Pretty sure they're easy to get and universal to all Aussie box linkages.

Just presuming!

Marty, did you replace tgem on your LJ? Did you use either part number that I mentioned?

As Marty said, a part used across multiple series and models.

Insulator Pt # 7418439 was used in LJ & HQ Aussie 4spd shifter as well as the LC/LJ 3spd column shift linkages, also found in the HK Holden 3spd column shift linkages, which would figure also used in the HT & HG 3spd column shift linkages but I don't have parts books for HT & HG.

I did replace them, but now I think about it I think I used NOS ones from when I had my other LJ S 25 years ago.

GSBK002 look like the ones you need James.

Going by the pictures they look like what I need but unfortunately we can't tell what I.D or O.D they are. That kit also only has the two bushes and doesn't include the reverse lever rubber bush.

The other kit, GSBK004, looks like it includes the rubber bush for the reverse lever, but the nylon sleeves look different from the original ones. Those original nylon sleeves fit perfectly into the reverse lever rubber bush even though that bush has different numbers molded into, the other two rubber bushes have no numbers molded into them so I assume that they differ in some way.

I just looked in the parts catalogue and all 3 rubbers have the same part number even though the reverse one looks slightly different visually. Perhaps some of mine are original and others are later GMH replacements.

What nylon sleeves? Our LC/LJ shifters and linkages do not have any nylon parts like those shown in kit GSBK004.

You will need to buy two GSBK002 kits to get the three insulators you need.

After looking again at the parts catalogue it appears that someone in the past has added the nylon sleeves to my bushes but from the factory they were never meant to be there.

Thanks Brian. I appreciate everyone's responses. I don't want to buy them and find that they don't fit, but now that won't be a problem.
