I'm keen to put some wires up the C pillar of my hatch before i install a headliner, in-case I choose to want the rear window demist feature...

Any advice on how to get them up there?

My car probably did have some wires running up there before I pulled it apart (the demister never worked anyway), but I must admit I didn't think about it much.

Anyone got a digram of where the wires go?

Anything that runs to the hatch lid wouldn't go through the C pillars would it? Just through the roof to the hinge area, that's where my high stop goes. Not sure where the factory location is (I suppose the parts manual is around here somewhere...) but I'd just follow the courtesy light wiring from the front and extend a bit further.

edit: actually when I moved the high stop to the spoiler I put a contact on the lid in the same spot as the light switch but opposite side so it doesn't run that way any more, but any heavy wires kind of have to run beside the hinges

From memory there is no real path for wires or anything through the C pillar unless you drill a hole on the bottom, which is why they rust as the moisture that gets in through the hinge area can't drain out.

Well I'd certainly like to hear clarification. I can't make sense of the loom that came from the car, otherwise.

I could have planned this out and made my loom to run up the B-pillar, but I didn't think this was the case so now it'd be a fairly big job actually.

there should be hole for a grommet to the right of the drivers side hatch hinge

it goes form there like in the pic to down the C pillar , joins up with the side lights and then the main rear harness

its only a single wire so it must earth out on the hatch somewhere ?

cant tell how the wiring goes through the pillar itself , my pillar has had rust repairs and is not stock

When I got my sunroof installed they run the drain tube down the c pillar to the bottom of the rear guard.  I doubt they drilled any holes in the pillar to achieve this.  I don't have any trim in at present so I can feel up under the pillar and seems to be clear.  Is it possible to send a feeder from below up and see if it gets through. Cheers Ron

Considering the amount of people commenting who don't know any more about this than I do, I don't feel like that much of an idiot any more.

Thanks for your help, legends.

I will contort my body into some bizarre shapes and see whether I can indeed feed something through before I pull apart all my nice loom work to re-route the wire up the B pillar.

Okay so there is a hole through the C-pillar... It looks like it can be done, much easier to run it from the top down (rather than up, from the bottom), which actually works just fine for me, and I'll put a connector at the bottom end of the wire, afterwards.

My front sunroof drains go through my A-Pillars, so I can't even squeeze the wiring up that way! My rears go down the B-pillars.

Ah the sunroof drains, that complicates things. Whatever works

Good one Heath.  Just reminded me my front drains down the A pillars and auto elec was really p%%%d off having to get wiring up the drivers side. Cheers Ron
