I did that years ago with HQ calipers at the back using HQ stubs and rotors. They hit on the crossmember on full lock.

I've never seen this combo tried before but I guess you just proved it doesn't work.

I've seen people do lc/lj using h series discs turned down and I've seen lx done using the alloy sliding type caliper, but I've not seen these calipers done on torana stubs.

Back in the early 90’s the only solutions I found were:

HK to WB stubs and HQ-WB discs.
PBR UC caliper alloy part with HOLDEN cast iron pad carrier. Use UC slides and hex bolt.
UC steering arms, or find A9X or L34 ones (Today just buy Harrop ones).

Or A9X Girlock calipers.
Or L34 PBR calipers (same as HQ but top entry hose).

Maybe using UC steering arms might just get you there. I haven't tried myself so just a suggestion.

This is an old photo of mine when I first got it a few years ago, this was done back in the 90's

It has a machined down HX rotor, original torana caliper but with HX pad slide fitted. (I think)

Yes, the above combo is tried and true. Cost almost nothing when the wreckers yards were full of HX kingswoods.

As suggested a change of steering arms might be enough to get you there.

Anyone know if lower profile rod ends are available?

^^And use the UC lower slide with the recessed Allen headed bolt.
