Hi all,

Can someone give me the correct procedure for handbrake adjustment on my vy Ute?

The most common mistake made on these is where people just keep on adjusting the handbrake cable, instead of the rear shoes.

You need to back off the cable until it's slack & then remove the rear calipers & rotors to check the rear brake shoe & make sure that the adjuster is not seized.

While you're there you can check out which way the adjuster rotates to make adjustment simpler.

All you do then (after refitting the rotors etc.) it to adjust the shoes precisely & then adjust the cable slack so-as the rear shoes aren't binding.
