Can someone please confirm the date of manufacture on the attached steering wheel. Its being advertised as an LJ and has the GTR horn pad but from my limited knowledge it appears the date of manufacture is 1976.

Just a Holden wheel with a GTR cap. The 92003716 part number is a HZ part number for an ADR25A sports wheel. Would be worth more with the proper cap for a HZ or late LX.

For replacement part purposes the earlier sports wheels were superseded to the 92003716 part number. So from a spare parts perspective it became the correct replacement part for an LJ Torana.

Oh ok so this could suffice as a replacement part for the LJ? mines just worn smooth on top as with most cars with 100,000miles so was considering purchasing this one which the seller is claiming is 'like new' (and is priced accordingly). Date matching the steering wheel to my car is probably not a huge consideration if I was to replace it.

It will have heaps thinner spokes than your original. Only real difference.

The 1979 GM Parts & Accessories News states Wheel No. 92003716BA and steering wheel (horn cap) adaptor Kit M38224 suits

Holden ... All Holden HQ, HJ, HX, HZ models.

Torana ... All LJ, LH, LX, UC & Sunbird models.

As Byron said. The original fittment LJ /HQ steering wheel had 5mm thick metal spokes whereas the later ADR25A wheel has 3mm thick spokes.

Ok thanks for the explanation. I was wondering what the discussion (on another forum) was on about in relation to this particular steering wheel. They were talking about 3mm and 5mm and I had no idea what that meant. You guys have saved me $1000

The date code will be 23 June 1986.
