Would anybody have a stock OEM harmonic balancer lying around and could tell me what the pulley top width measurement that the belt sits in is ? It seems that all the dayco aftermarket OEM replacement, street and race versions all have a measurment of 10mm with the 11mm belt sitting proud.

Just can't get my head around why Dayco have done this is as the water pump, power steering pulley etc all have a top width of 11mm with the belts sitting flush.

Thanks Mate, appreciate it.

Must be the norm then, I wonder what the reasoning is for wanting some belt ride out on the harmonic balancer pulley and not the water pump, power steering, aircon etc other than I guess it would maximise the life of the pulley as it wears over time. They are common on Euro cars but would have to order one in . The newer bosch alternator pulleys seem to also be 10mm but i guess they can be used on many motors.

It was suggested to me to try a 10A0950 belt and see how that goes also. I guess i'll get one and well as a top cog and do some tests to see if these workarounds are better as well as the other things previously mentioned.

Thinking i must be getting the torsional vibrations much lower than 6000rpm with the havier black motor crank, flywheel and presssure plate. As well as making the belt dance when accelerating and decelleratng.

Does anybody know if the 3 bolt chev crank pulleys olt up to the Holden 6 harmonic balancer at all ? Just thought while im at it and putting it back together i'll stick a small one on the end of the crank for the power steering to slow it down a bit.

Cheers

I'll let you know tomorrow, I run a Chev pulley, but I also have a Super Damper(Chev balancer) on my 202.

Thanks mate, whenever you get a chance. I saw your post with fabriation of the balancer and wish i had those skills. Tried to find info about crank pulley replacements for the Holden 6 on the net with not much luck.

I saw that auto AER are selling new ones but appear to be larger than what i want around 5.25" or 130 to 140mm.
