Der Torana friends ,

Im trying a new oil pick up modification .

The oil line goes out of the oil pan direct to the oil pump with a hose.

Zak Coles from the UK (ZK precision automotive) welded me a AN10 fitting direct to the pump housing .

I did read in other Holden forums that the Commodores dont have so much problems with oil pressure because of the pick up is much shorter.

My idea is to make it even as short as possible and to use a internal filter in the oil feed hose.Attached File  Oil mod 1 800.png   808.32K   11 downloadsAttached File  oil mod 2 800.png   909.14K   10 downloads

How does it work ?

I will add a internal filter and a check valve in this oil line.

Any restriction(filter or check valve) in suction line to pump is often a Very bad idea.

How is the fitting attached to your pump Ben? Is it just drilled and tapped?

Shiney005, yeah the blue fitting on the suction point for the pump appears to be tapped.
The German, if you do the conversion,
Don't forget to block off the original oil pick up line with either a metal bung or if possible drill & tap for a threaded bung plug.

There are people in Australia that sell these pumps modified & ready to go.
If I ever need another one I'll call Zok Race Carbs again in Qld

Yes i will plug the old holes. They are approx 14,2 mm diameter.

I think a 9/16" -18 plug would fit.

By the way,

My High enery oil pan has a recommendation of 6,5 liter filling.

Has someone a recommendation to use more oil?

I think it can be more because if the engine is running there is a lot oil already at the top working.

I just made a blank plate the same dimensions as the OEM pickup (making sure it was perfectly flat, of course), and bolted it on using the original gasket and bolts. Never had a problem with it sucking air.

I did it that way so it would be easier to revert to a factory-style pickup if I ever had to change oil pumps / sumps.
