Hoho
Need a high lift thermostat to take full advantage
of the reduced pumping losses

Seriously though Paul,
There's a site of a mob selling rad caps with a sacrificial anode
complete with pictures of a perfectly undamaged waterneck.
Believe it - or not

Got curious this morning and, knowing nothing, had a google about it.
Searched "engine cooling system alloy corrosion"
Clicked on the "researchgate.net" one.
Highly scientific study of this by the Israel institute
of technology

Didn't read it all, very scientist-ish
They were on about tap water messing up the corrosion inhibitors
in the coolant, chemical ionic action and microbacteria all
accelerating the process as opposed to sterilised water.
Don't know how you get that, though, a hospital maybe?

Reckon properly distilled water would be considered sterilised water.

When I was doing my apprenticeship we had a fleet of battery powered locos to go underground in the mine.

We produced our own distilled water.

All it comprises is boiling the water then condensing the steam.

We used a standard old hot water urn to do the boiling.

A cover above it and a cooling coil to a small tank.

Cheers

Rob

No microbes going to survive distillation, unless you are thinking of the tequila worm
