Yep, because I'm sure Peter Brock needed extra "driving practice"... :driving:

Graham Hooley told me that for the Street Car class, most drivers would trailer their cars to the entrance road at Wanneroo and then bolt on the plates from the tow car to drive them in.

Are the 7 you have the ones that have been found Laurie? Of are the 7 from the microfiched report out of the VML?

7 on the microfiched report Byron. I have only seen two so far, but possibly know who the owner of a third. By the way, is your mate with the L34 Scott M? If so, it looks like I need to have a look at his car to verify that it came from a certain racing team.

I will contact Vasko Talevski to ask for a chassis number as it is one we don't have recorded. He was the second last owner.

That is him Laurie.

There must be a good reason why the repeat numbers on so many L34. Probably to do with the build process being different to normal in some fashion.

It is not uncommon for race teams to have up to 5 or more engines with the same engine number.

The Latham Group C GMP&A A9X being a prime example.......

When they blew an engine, they simply replaced it with another.......

That is VERY different to a repeat number that is being discussed.

Every Holden engine I have ever come across with a R stamped into it has always been a replacement engine.......

It is not uncommon for race teams to have up to 5 or more engines with the same engine number.

The repeat engine numbers I am referring to are the factory stamped ones. They have popped up in just about all GMH cars in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

There are also repeat chassis numbers, stamped both on the chassis, and the compliance plates.

If a number mistakenly got stamped twice, an "R" would be added. If it happened twice, there would be an "R2". I have been told of a VL Commodore with an "R6" engine number.

The R is the same font as what is found on the sump faces of six cyls.

You forgot R1 I think Laurie. I found a Belmont wagon out in country Victoria that had an MR chassis number on the compliance plate but the person who stamped the chassis stuffed up and stamped it RM!

Vasko never owned the car. He has put me onto a good lead though.

It was owned by his older brother. And "Leethal Lee" isn't making himself known on Fbook.
