Hi all.  I noticed a RestoCountry kit for hatch lid hinges comes with a set of shims.  Having seen that, I have now found one in my stash of bits and pieces.  I didn't know what it was for until now.  My question is, is it common to use these when refitting the lid?

The reason I ask is that my panel shop is having some difficulty lining up the lid and we suspected it is the new rubber which a lot of people have had issues with but maybe the lack of a shim is the culprit.  Thanks all. Cheers Ron

I would also like to know if anyone has used the Better Auto Rubber seal and if they have had success with it, as opposed to the Rares one. Cheers Rojn

The hatch lid rubbers have a very bad reputation - far too thick or not soft enough, I'm not sure

The Torana RP&A ones are reputed to be the best ones available. Don't know about "Better Auto Rubber".

Thanks Heath.  Yeah I have followed a few threads on this over the time now it's my turn lol.  I don't think ToranaRPA sell them anymore or I have missed it on their web site.  I've just bought the Better Auto Rubber version and will see if that is any better (no pun intended). Cheers Ron

I’ve got the Better Auto Rubber as well Cook, my hatch lid sits a little high at the lower C pillar area

As Heath mentioned ToranaRPA are the hatch seal to use, Muscle Car Parts Australia are ToranaRPA supplier that has stock

Cheers Aaron
