Hi,

I'm playing with a VK (?) Rochester (17084595 1464 JHT). I have a rebuild kit to put in and I've disassembled the carb today.

This model has an internal adjustable APT screw to set part throttle mixture I believe.

Being a newbie knucklehead, I didn't note the number of turns out from seated before removal. Plus I think someone has already been into the carb so who knows how it was set!

Is there any way to get the factory setting from somewhere? Or a close starting point?

Thanks

Scott

Go to Ross at Carbotune Tweed Heads.
He'll set it up properly.

Try in till it seats then back out 3/4 turn. Worked on ol' strommies as a starter position?

*Disclaimer............might have been 1 and 3/4 turns.................been a while

Different screw, I don't think that Scott if referring to the idle mixture screws.

AFAIK the APT screw in Qjets sets the lower height of the primary piston.

That is correct Dr Terry.

This may help, I've got this in books, but this gives a good description.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah I've been searching the net for videos and opinions on the setting point. Thanks for posting that video warrenm, it's a good explanation. So far I've read set points anywhere from 2 to 4 full turns out from seated. So I reckon I'll pick 3 turns as a start point.

I have ordered the grub screw kit from the US. So at least I'll be able to tune it once the engine starts.
