Here is an ROH HT-HG rim. Not sure how a 14” centre would fit in a 13” hoop.

Due to a shortage of 4.5" rims in mid 1972 the above 5.5" wheel from Rubery, Owen & Kimsley was an interim use on 823 & 825 models only.

Agree, the arrangement of 4 pairs of bullet shaped slots look the same as this HK? rim.

HK rims were the last manufactured by GMH weren't they? After that they were outsourced to Rubery Owens Holdings.

Thanks heaps fellas

Am I correct that these Toranas thst used these rims were the LC S model  2door and 4 door and the SL 4 door only -but are in fact genuine (used during a shortage in mid 72)

I am looking for rims for an 82911 GTR - the guy I purchased these from assured me they were from a LC Torana (wasnt sure if he was having me on)

Can you tell me is there any difference visually or otherwise in the RIMs used on a LC GTR and XU1 or an LJ GTR or XU1 (barring the Sprintmaster rims)

I think HK was the last GMH Holden rim, but I think L34 was the last GMH Torana rim (they use HK bands, always been a good donor source to make HK 6” rims from)

They may have come of an LC Torana, doesn't mean they were originally fitted to it. The manufacture date tells you those rims were made 6 months too late for LC. The dealer service letter says they were used on 823 & 825 models only. Not used on 82911

Right, and they made the GTS rims as well? You wouldn't butcher L34 rims to put HK centres in would you Byron?

By HK hoops you are talking about the style of rim profile I presume, rather than actual 1968 bands on a 1974 centre.

No, the HQ Rally rims came from Canada. GMH used the centre’s in HK Rally wheel hoops afaik. Not 1968 hoops but the same thing made later. HK had a unique 6” hoop profile as they are exactly 0.5” more offset than a HK 5” rim sticking the whole extra inch of width outwards, this made them perfect for use on L34 with the different (more -ve) offset compared to HQ Rally.
Bloody oath we cut L34 rims up to donate the hoops to HK. L34 rims were everywhere, nobody wanted them, all replaced with Hotwires or US Racers.

Many a deed done back in the day now considered a sin eh?

I'm dealing with this issue now with 6" HT rims for front of my ute. Got a pair reverse stock but too negative and don't like the look. I'm trying to get my head around turning them back to stock and bringing in slightly. I did have this done on a set years ago before I knew about the change in wheel nut taper from HK to HT and consequently managed to fracture the centres between holes. These rims have the ROH style centres, however the rears, which are a deep dish 7" setup, have a 74mm hub hole rather than the standard 63.5mm. I'm wondering where these centres come from.

I’d still do it today to restore a GTS327.
You could try using HZ/WB hoops on them, just get the centre’s out of any HT-HG 5” rims.
