Hi all , still can’t get to the bottom of why my shifter is hitting the side of the hole on the tunnel .
I don’t have any adjustment on the plate so I can’t move it over to compensate. The engine mounts seem fine installed as per the workshop manual and I even have the correct Opel mount on the crossmember and the correct crossmember. It seems it’s over to the driver too much and not central to the hole , nothing is bent .Any advise greatly appreciated. Cheers Paul.

Check that the rear crossmember is not on back to front.

It's been a while but I thought the flare on that rear crossmember was supposed to go toward the front to provide extra clearance for the extension housing?

Which would mean it's on back to front as Bazza said?

Hi - I had the same trouble. Looked at some photos etc and found mine was back to front. Swapped it round and no more clash with the edge of the hole. I would have to take a look to be certain, but it did move the lever across by maybe an inch.

That cut out in your carpet is very neat. Is that the way it was supplied? What brand if carpet is it?

Hi James, it’s classic loop carpet by Knox and I used a scalpel to cut around the hole . Paul.

Mark the centre of the cross member (between the chassis rail mounts) then you will see any off set in the gearbox mounting holes and whether reversing the cross member will centreline the gearbox mounts.

I'll get the crossmember the correct way first ,hopefully as Bazza says it will bring the shifter over slightly .I'll keep you posted.

I hummed and arred over the direction of that crossmember… having the lip facing the rear seems to assist in draining the factory oil leak from the rear yoke seal.

Yes and you'd have thought they would have made something similar for the factory diff leak and master cylinder .

Thanks ,all sorted ,so I corrected the crossmember which adjusted the shifter over about an inch as Bazza mentioned ,the crossmember has enlongated holes which allows for some sideways movement .

Hi Jaso, I didn’t edge it ,I just cut around the inside diameter with a blade and it fit nicely around the outside diameter with a push.

The thing that looks like edging around the hole n the carpet is the metal adapter plate that houses the shifter rubber boot.
