Hi Guys,
Looking at what rev limiter to use with my holden HEI ignition.
Shoot me some ideas, and some pros and cons.
I have been looking at the pertronix digital as a start, but want to see what people think of others on the market.
Cheers
Dave

Hi mate.
We have 2 LJ track cars.
One has the Aussie Pertronix limiter with the 2 little dials to set it.
The other has the MSD type with the the plug in chips for various revs limits i.e. 6600, 6800, 7000 etc etc.
The Pertronix one works well, but is sensitive to anything bar a perfect earth return.
Also it seems to limit the revs well if you creep up on the set limit, but a wild over rev seems to bluff it.?
Thd MSD chip one limits fine.
Hope that helps, makes sense.
p.s. the big positive of the Pertronix is that you can just set it to whatever rpm you want, whereas with the Chip one, you can only set the limit to be as per the set values of the chips you have. Further, when I tried to source some extra/ other chip values I could not find them/ were super excy. ( dont remember which).

Awesome info, thanks for that. Is that with a early HEI? What MSD are you using?

Sorry I meant the Holden HEI. Was a big cap dizzy but I swapped to the small cap. Looks like it will work, just need to decipher the wiring when compared to the in cap coil used in the US.
