Overshoes shoes were quite common in the day.

The drum needs to be at least 0.625" (1/16") oversize for No.1 oversize shoes to fit. The shoes also need to be radiused to suit the drum properly.

Being rear drums I'd have no issue with them being up to 0.080" oversize.

How far can an oversize brake drum be, before it is deemed U/S .... wait till it cracks?

I wouldn't take small 9-inch Torana drums much past 0.080".

With the larger (11-inch) drums on some US cars, they sometimes can go over 0.125" which is No. 2 oversize.

Hi all, just starting to repair rear brakes on SLR5000 LH bought new cylinders and spring kit. Just wandering can you buy new pistons for the brake cylinder, old ones a little pitted.
