LH Torana Outer Door handle locking clip

Hi spend an hr getting the back RH Outer door handle, just could not get that clip off. Eventually got it off sadly snapped back portion of clip off, see attached pic's

Thought I might be able to cut off first lug nearest hole (2nd Pic) to allow the remaining hole to fit where old lug broke.

Actually looking at the clip looks like the remaining lug is the back portion so might just go back on as is.

How were you trying to remove the clip? Should only take a matter of seconds to unhook that retainer clip.

Unless they're old and crusty and have melded themselves onto the rod.

That's the front portion, you have broken the back portion off. That clip will not hold the rod in place now.
