Hi all couple of questions:

1. Thoughts on the pipe vents that are concealed high in the rear wheel arches, I have the tank

out and the car on stands, I noticed these vent pipes the other day, should I remove and clean or

replace or should I think about fitting the evaporative mission, seems strange to me to vent to an area close to tank, also would you have a constant vapour smell without the emission control.

I’m doing similar with my HK. Connecting the tank vents to a vapour/fuel separator off a canister Torana and then intending to fit a little vacuum controlled canister like a VN or similar in the engine bay.

I have just cleaned mine up, came up like new which surprised me, no rust, I am thinking they must of been hit wit a tar like substance, so I will prime and paint at least. Adding the emission control unit Iam still in two minds, I am trying to determine of it was offered as an optional upgrade.

The canister and sealed fuel tank was fitted to some export cars during HQ, but it became standard in Australia from 1st January 1975. I’ll dig up the option code for it.

Refit any original parts that you remove from your car.
