Dera Torana friends,

 

I found this video at Youtube and wonder if someone else has tried the Buick V6 Fel-Pro # P2903  Rubber seal.

 

How is the result with leaking ?

Yes works fine, if you clock the seal so that the joins are above/below the main cap to block connection and add a careful dab of sealant there's less risk of problems at the join too. Don't cut the seal too far oversize as excess squish will deform it.

Read on av8 one or two shops were selling them pre-cut ready to go so we couldn't stuff them up lol.

 

My 355 stroker seeped a little then gradually got worse bad enough to puff smoke out of bonnet scoop...apparently it was built with v6 rear seal then replaced just before I got the car & barely lasted 12 months.

 

Originally thought it was crankcase issue untill some peeps said if revved hard can burn seal out so guessing it was that or incorrectly installed.

 

Before that all other 308's etc had original holden rope seals supposedly asbestos was secret ingredient.

 

Thinking of taking f280 355 to Struggler or Tk...let them do all oil mods & other tricks etc

I was happy with the result of more freely spinning of the crankshaft with using the V6 seal than with the rope seal.

 

I think the rope seal takes 5 hp :-)  because irs so tight.
