Hi all, could someone possibly post up a pic of the solenoid connected up? I've gone though posts but can't find one ,I think four points for connection .Much appreciated .

I just need to know where the purple push on wire goes(there is three positions it could go on , two tabs underneath as well)and the black one , these are both coming off the wiring harness. Thanks Paul.

Should be everything on the starter solenoid positive, outside thread. Excepting purple wire which energizes solenoid from ignition switch when you turn the key. These are usually underneath the two threaded terminals. Other threaded terminal is earth or 0V as our resident EE puts it.

There’s actually 3 terminals on my solenoid, still confused as to which one the push on purple one goes on.

As I said the purple wire usually goes on the bottom terminal. Top one could be 12v feed to resistor coil if fitted? Just speculating.

The bottom 2 terminals are the same connection. Either one will do.

The top terminal is not used on Holdens but is on Fords & Valiants with points (non-electronic) ignition to short out the ballast on crank. Holden short out the ballast at the ignition switch.

maybe get a little jumper lead.
Put one end the big cable from the battery.
Very briefly splash the other end onto each of your 3 terminals, in turn.

Not the best solution, but you will soon see/ hear which one is the sol.
Note - make sure it's out of gear, handbrake on, safety glasses blah blah .
