Has anyone had problems with a Holden 6 glass bowl fuel pump ? I used gasket goo with the gasket but oil is leaking out the bottom.Looks like it's slightly warped .Anyone know a remedy to this ? Maybe facing the surface ? Any advice appreciated.

Pivot pin is ok Rob ,I replaced the little pivot rod end caps with new ones that came in a kit. Seems the face has a slight bow in it and I’m wondering if it’s a common thing and how to fix it.

I went through this recently. There is a breather hole in the pump crank case. If the diaphragm rod oil seal is leaking then engine oil pressure will push oil past it and out the breather.

Easy to diagnose with the pump off. Just turn it upside down and fill the crank case with oil. It will flow out of the breather under gravity if this is the problem.

The seals are tricky to replace. In the end I gave up and fitted the bottom half of a good later metal top pump to my refurbished glass bowl top. By refurbished I mean cleaned and new valves fitted. They bolt straight up and pretty much indistinguishable.

Apart from the appearance, the later pump top had different port orientation, set up for flexible hose. Using it would have required modifying the pump to carb metal tube.

If it is leaking between pump face and block then you need to take the pivot pin out again and remove the arm and then reface the pump

face with wet and dry on a piece of glass or something nice and flat to get the bow out , it is common for them to warp slightly over time.

Not sure on this but the bolts that hold the pump in might not have a blind hole , and if not will need a smear of goo on threads to stop oil getting past.

So I found that the face of the pump was very warped, used some 600 wet n dry , then up to some finer grade. Should be ok now . Thanks for advice fellas.
