I've been polishing  my car of late due to boredom and for some reason today I noticed what I could only describe as a round indentation about 4-5" in diameter like someone has leaned on the side of the drivers rear quarter as its hip height. my finger indicates the centre .See photos of exact location. I'm sure its been there since I've had this car but in the reflection it stands out. I'm sure I've read in one of the old posts someone commented that this crease is normal for 2 door LJ's ?. I called my local paint less dent remover who also said he believed this to be normal for some LJ cars and that sometimes it can exist on one side only, but is going to come and have a look this weekend and says he can remove it BUT if its a common trait of these cars I would rather it be left alone. The passenger side is not as pronounced. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I'd say it's supposed to be there. Checked my 2dr and there is also an odd indentation at about that spot.
I think Mike Catts mentioned this too before he went mad and left the reservation. With his $145K. For a car without a VIN tag. With the blessing of many here. Anywho...

I seem to recall this has been posted before.
As I recall it, John Gong ( who has owned / played with heaps of these LC/LJs) advised that this is a normal tooling/ pressing mark.
Assuming it's the same spot.
Happy to be corrected.

I just did a search and found a thread on this exact topic started by 'Madtoranajzedded' dated 29/3/17. appears it might be normal so best I cancel my paintless dent man.

Definitely normal, some are more pronounced than others.

The depression exists on like every LC / LJ 2 door ever built. Fanboy.

I noticed this on my LJ but it was more of a deviation in that curved crease line. Same on both sides.

But it wasn't on the LC I'm doing.  I believe its a factory press mark but isn't on every car.

Not so much a press mark, but occurs when the 1/4 panel gets pulled in around the curve to spot weld to inner panel.

There are also factory dints on the bottom of the quarters, near the B pillar. Nearly all LC & LJ bonnets have factory dints also......

As for the press markings in the c pillar area, definitely factory. I've seen people get rid of them & then it looks silly, to those in the know.

Agreed, also looks silly when people get rid of the slight concave section adjacent to the door lock on the 1/4 panels.

Do you want to put up some photo's of the concave section Dave, so i can write a note to keep an eye out for these bits. My plan also is to leave any factory imperfections. Gary.

I wanted to edit that ask, could you please do that, if you don't mind mate.
