My car is a bit too loud, even the dog thinks it's too loud.
It is an LS1 with small cam, home made 4-2-1 extractors into 2.5" then 100 cell cats a cross over pipe and single mufflers on each side. The mufflers are fairly open as can be seen in the pic below, before I fitted them I thought the oen design meant it could end up pretty loud although the supplier was sure it wouldn't be. When tested during my engineering it was just on the 96 db limit, passed just but I would prefer it was quieter.
To make it quieter without losing too much flow/power am I best off swapping to a different type of muffler to keep it as 1 muffler per side or fitting hot dogs in the system either before or after the mufflers?
I would be interested in losing 3-5 db which is about what the hot dogs claim but if the end result is similar I would be happy to swap to a different type of muffler. Any suggestions? Muffler types or radical ideas?
Cheers, Tom
