It seems a number of people/businesses are adopting this charity or "art Union" model of sales.

In a similar vein

I did some digging around the Color Run  ( their spelling) a few years ago   -heavily promoted as doing your bit for running 5kms , and raising money for the local hospital.

My number crunching - of the $50 entry - $5 got to the hospital.  The people/runners  got colour powder, a 5 dollar T shirt a nice day out but a slightly misguided feeling about promoting a good cause - another option would have been just to donate $5.

The company behind it also got sponsors and volunteer groups to assist with on course drinks , officials, snacks , first aide etc - so a nice money spinner for them.

I am not against Art Union type models - just be transparent on where the proceeds go to  ,   and of course you get the chance to win some nice cars!!!!

It would be nice to know what portion of the income has to go to the charity to qualify for an art union type licence?

It seems to be a very clever Business Model where it appears everyone is a winner..............Business Owners, Charities and the lucky person that wins the car.

The only thing I question is the wording of "Promotional Giveaway" which I regard as a Free item / gift to generate customers and leads (marketing technique).

Any money that the charity gets is money that they would not have otherwise received.

Sure, others profit more.

But the charity doesnt have to use up resources to get the money.

A friends daughter worked in the financial section for a charity and explained that it was a win for them.

However, probably less than 1% of any money raised gets to where the average person probably thinks it goes to.

The recent bushfire appeals are a good example.

Even back when Cyclone Tracy hit Darwin, little of the money got to those who needed it.

I think the only one that was pretty good was after 1994 fires.

All donations were put into a single fund under Sydney Lord Mayor from memory.

Most of that money got to the victims.

Cheers

Rob

Brad if you are talking about the 4.2 LX SLR, then it didn't sell. I has just been listed on Carsales for 149k. There appears to be some lies from the owner of this car as to the sale of it. It has also resurfaced on FB for 150k. The owner did not like being told that no LX came out with LH SLR front seat trim. According to him, they did LOL...

Oh dear the 1971 LC S Coupe was sold by Australian Muscle Cars a few months ago:

There is some creativity used from the current seller as a picture of car appears to be  a cut & paste from the AMC website (the image is reversed / steering wheel on passenger side and still has AMC signage on front of car):

I'm certainly not sold on this being a good cause, and I'm not one for gambling.
