My LC has been in the shop for about six months, on a not in a hurry job.  So starting to show how we started, and where we are at.

I've owned this car since 1984 and it was my first car.  It's been in the shed for the past two decades, taken out for the odd run down the back road (with no working brakes) and I just want to get it back on the road, looking respectable and be able to take it out for weekend drives.

Looks like a good project and if that's all the rust not going to be difficult. must have been basic S new, drum brakes and air forced heater. Good luck with it and enjoy.

Yes early and basic. I’m going to put drum brakes on the front.

Looks like a pretty good starting point to a nice project Annie. Now you have said you are upgrading to front discs I'm led to wonder if you will consider a change to larger displacement block. You can use your original running gear and still look original, but not the original block of course.

By the way the 138 blocks are sought after as a replacement for 138 grey motor in earlier Holden up to EJ 1963. Shameless plug: have a nice 161 short motor would take your head and other gear. Seriously though the 138 is worth more than most red motors for the reason above, excluding correct numbered collector car blocks of course.
Cheers,
Clay

Hi Clay,
No I’m trying to keep her as original as possible, but improve the safety (brakes, seat belts, may change the rack as it’s pretty floaty).
I love my little 138 and pretty sure it’s original. Dad and I did the rings, etc in 1984 when we bought her and we’ve never had any problems. In fact, starts on 2nd turnover after not started for 2+ years, with old fuel and just a bit tipped into the carbie.
Stay tuned.

Very cool LC. I have a 138 engine, was saving it for a Land Rover nut because they can use them as an improvement over the original engines without breaking the original drivelines.

I have reconditioned calipers and a pair of rotors that need a new home if you're looking for brake parts.

I’ve taken discs off a donor LJ. I’ll keep you in mind if we have trouble. Thank you

And last week. Not far off being painted. It's starting to feel real. Greatest trouble is disc brake rotors not being in-stock, hence front wheels being replaced by trolley jack. Seats off being redone.

It’s been a while and bodywork is all done. 2 pack painted in Kashmir White. Reassembly has started with sourcing quite a few bit.
Any suggestions on sourcing Sandlewood Roebuck roof lining for 2 door?

Is looking good. For your roof lining try giving Steve a call at cools auto trim in Sydney he should be able to help you out and they do some good work
