hi guys got a new motor all done right by book by engine builder. last thing to do was put water in so i did and water started leaking out the extractor side quite a lot.. thinking that a welsh plug did not seal so took all of.. pumped up cooling system and water pouring out from between the head and block.. for the life of me cant see how this could happen.. thinking the gasket is 92 thou and it has failed so how??

any one have an idea

Did your builder use hylomer on the gasket? Highly recommended for MLS to seal.

Sorry, just re read, you didn't say MLS.
Was it a composite gasket or MLS?

Howdy, Rick

Would this be your new motor with the huffer on?

The quiet achiever - You have been a busy boy

Keen to hear how you're getting on

Good luck with the gasket repair man, hope he sorts it for quick-o

Hopefully as simple as some hylomer.
Hope it goes well.....

hi sorry bean bizzy.. drained the water out so just what was in the block then  started it for minute or two then let cool down.. put some water in and all was good not a drop to bee seen

now running bit hot so only have 6 cly rad so upgrading core and putting one fan one side to pull the other in front.. 2 10inch

if that dont work will move rad forward if can and try get both behind but will need major surgery

I'd be wary if I were you. You will have air pockets in the system now probably.
Run it with the cap off till the thermostat opens.
Top it up, replace the cap and run it till it gets nice and hot and pressurized.
If no leaks then, happy days.

What was wrong with it?
How did you get it to seal properly?

Bizarre, but sounds like it might be a win.

Also, for peace of mind with the gasket, I'd be re-torquing that cylinder head if you haven't already.

will be getting rad back next week so put it in and see .. first drive will be to engine man to go over it he is only 2ks away

took some plugs to dyno man to and it is a bit rich so thinking good thing and he was happy.. only have 17 degrees of timing now dizz locked and running and starting really good

do have a pin hole in sump were i had the sump made to hold bit more oil but can get to it so lucky. got to fined first its hard with new oil

?? is it ok to tak a pin hole with a mig would only need a zap ??? do i drain oil ?? then do ??

Hah! I tried that the other day for the first time ever.

Pantyhose tho, double layered.

Filled up with a reasonable amount of crap,

Engine ran hot, real quick till i removed the sock.

Amazing how much shit is circulating

Be careful and keep your eye on the gauge
