Care to define Classic Gene? In the glorious state of QLD, a vehicle is classed as historic/classic after 30 years of age.
i.e. the VN is a classic.
Where is your build thread Gino?
Ohhhhh, that's right, you cried to Neil to remove it due to some non favourable comments about your tunnel.

So I'm going to have a crack at this. It won't be as popular as Heaths hatch but as much as I love Toranas I also love RX7s so bare with me. End state will be Group C RX7.
Put it into the Members projects thread,
Hopefully the court jesters wont follow

I'm on your side Zook, Had a RX7 series 2. Loved it. I am related to Greg Hansford and owned it during his time racing with Alan Moffat. It had the rear whale tail and Simmons wheels just like his race car, a real stand out car in the day. That little car impressed me but went through more fuel than my 327 powered SBC Sandman, but did regular showed an extra 4,000 rpm on the tacko over the chevy engine. The tacko needle went all the way around to the stopper peg even when the Mrs used to drive it, couldn't kill it.
Unfortunately it was stolen and recovered three times. I got pissed of with it and needed the money anyway to build our new house. Two years after selling it I found out who was stealing the car ????, it ended up being my apprentice mechanic. The little prick help me replace the locks and repair the steering column each time the car was recovered, and did it with a straight face. I felt like a real idiot when I found out. I was showing him how the thieving bustards had used a screwdriver to snap the locks and how they got around the alarm. I sacked him not long after the last time it was stolen. I had discovered parts going missing around the workshop. We caught him steeling a Holley carby and give him his marching orders. I am so glad I didn't catch him knocking off the RX7 at the time or I probably would have done time behind bars.
Anyway that's my RX7 experience Zook.

I hated them by Friday morning actually.
Most of them were camped up in behind the pits.
I camped there from 81 to 84.
Being woken in the morning at around 6am by screaching brapping and popping wasnt much fun.
The second worse experience I had up there after the rotaries was my tent being flattened by the Channel 7 chopper.
Thankfully the TAFE boys even managed to help out a camper in between fixing cars.
Zook.
Love or them or hate them, they were an integral part of Group C.
Sound aside, they were pretty good cars, and managed to throw the cat amongst the pigeons.
Look forward to seeing your build.
Cheers
Rob

The sound is the best part!
Unless you're actually using them as a road car for extended distances... they are a bit of an acquired taste if you're on the highway in a Bridgy powered car for example.

It would happen six times while accelerating too, even though they were only homologated with five gears.
With all of the attention the rotary Commodore got on social media, the coppers pulled him over and stickered it.
