Hey Guys,

I have been building a LX sunbird for the past 6 years and have a 350 chev in it, I need to licence it in WA and am only now finding out about the emission control compliance.

I only have a charcoal cannister at the moment as the car had been swapped with a red 6.

My question is...has anyone here been through the licence process with a chev and what emission equipment has to be fitted to pass the engineer please.

Thank you.

Probably best to speak to the engineer mate, no point doing things with good intention that they are no happy with.

Just paint it red and put “308” on the air cleaner?

Pity you’re not in Victoria, much more reasonable approach to older modified cars here.

Have you submitted a modification in principle to licensing?

If it is an auto, it will require EGR porting in the heads and manifold. Other than that, the carbon canister hooked up correctly to the tank and carby should be all that is needed.

Sorry to go off topic, but why does an auto one need that and a manual one not need that?

I dunno. Byron mentioned it once. I just don't have the time to look it up right now.

Spoke to my engineer and was told Carbon cannister needs to be hooked up only as it is too hard to procure parts for Egr set up nowadays.

Thank christ because I am running AFR heads and Air gap manifold, so would of been up shit creek.

Thanks guys for the info though, cheers
