Hi All. What is the standard rear guard height from the ground on a LC Torana. Sometimes when I hit a big bump the rear guard hits the tyre. I am thinking the rear coils have sagged over the years.

On mine, from the ground, through the center of the wheel, to the bottom edge of the wheel arch is 560mm.

Any Thoughts?

Cheers John

John, the factory measurement on LC 823 & 825 models from the underside of the sill panels just in front of the rear wheels to the ground is 8.3 inches.

8.3" wow you could drive up to the Cape in that. 4.5" would be a lot better.

Guessing tyre dimensions would have changed greatly from the factory specs in the 70's to now. I'm just under 8" with BF Goodrich 205/60 and no rubbing but throw a couple passengers in the back and that could change. Could be why the rear third of the inner lip on both my rear guards are tapped in.

4.5" would bottom out on every stupid fcuking speed bump unless you crawl over at snail pace.

Yes slowing drivers down is the reasoning behind speed bumps but why lower a vehicle to the point where it bottoms out if you go over the bump any faster than .1kmh.

yeah over here people on a certain road pushed the local council to install speed bumps

three months later , pushed to have them removed , because of the extra noise of the cars powering away

Just so long as tread of the tyres on the top of mine isn't seen, that's about the height I'd like.
