Hi all. I'm in the process of putting the LX K frame backed together. The springs that came out are as follows, free height, front 292mm h, rear 282mm h, red in colour. Spring coil steel is 14mm dia front and 13mm dia rear.
I'll be fitting Hoppers stoppers up front with 15" dia rims, 8" rear and 6" or 7" front, standard guards no flares.
Engine 253.
Standard springs are 332mm h? so these appear about 40 to 50mm lower.
By fitting these springs, will it pass inspection for rego? Will it look ok?
I got the car as a roller with no engine or box and 13" wheels so not sure how it would look with the above setup.
Also happy to get new King springs, just not sure which ones.
Any advice much appreciated.
Cheers, Wayne.476875e82d1acbc81d6bbbea4d1746bf.jpg

You need to get a new vivo, that one's 85 years old!

But seriously, with regard to the springs, all you can really do is suck it 'n see. They don't look like standard springs so hopefully whoever had them previously knew what they were doing and fitted something decent.

I'd just throw 'em in and see how it sits. The only thing it'll gonna cost you is a can of paint and a couple of hours' work to change 'em later.

Just try them and see if you like them.

A lot of coil windings on the front springs, they won't be very stiff. But they may suit your taste. You can trim them to suit the height you want.

The rears look like a pretty typical aftermarket rear spring, probably a bit under 200lb and not very low. You'll probably want to at least reset the rears to a lower height for it to look any good. But you may want to do this change after your rego inspection.

Agreed - I'd use those springs as a starting point and see how they go as a baseline.

By the way, I reckon they are Pedders lowered.

I sold a set of rears recently (Pedders #2024) - free height 275mm - see photos here and they look like the same springs as yours.

You'll definitely be able to go lower if you want, but at least they won't be 4WD spec! They could end up being just want you want.

Cheers guys, that pretty much backs up what I was thinking. I'll go ahead and fit em! I'll put up a few photos of the project to date as well, all taken from the 85 year old phone! Lol
