Been looking at slick and wet track tyres.
Everyone you talk too says the supply/ shipping industry is just stuffed.
Sparesbox and the rest may be just victims.
Still, Its good when they tell you upfront, that it will be xxx weeks more than normal before delivery.

Since Kung Flu hit, I have resigned myself to waiting about 2 weeks for a lot of the stuff I buy online.

No big deal.

Some stuff still gets delivered within a week though, which is great.

I have come across a couple of sellers however who advertise stuff that they obviously dont stock.

After you have paid for the item you get an email saying currently out of stock and that the wait is x weeks before they expect delivery.

They had to have known that before advertising. I think doing that is a bit unethical.

But spare a thought for the residents of a town I used to live in.

Just out of Campbelltown NSW, and soon to be indistinguishable from Campbelltown by over development.

Their Facebook page has posts from residents that have been checking their deliveries from Auspost.

Some of them have had parcels sitting in depots at Ingleburn and Smeaton Grange for 3 weeks.

They hadnt had a mail delivery for a week.

Auspost blames Kung Flu for staff shortages.

Cheers

Rob

Sparesbox has terrible shipping wait times. Hopefully they have improved from 2 years ago when I stopped using them.

Another parcel showed up today. This time it was 2 pair of wiper blades in a box so big it had to be picked up from inside the post office.

So that’s 3 seperate parcels. I’m awaiting on a 4th which hopefully will have the remaining items.

Catch 22........if they hold up sending the order until it all arrives, then it takes forever.  If they send it in dribs and drabs, you get 10 deliveries.

Can't win.

Of course, if the ACTUALLY stocked what they sell, then the above is irrelevant.

I could prob understand a delay on odd rare parts. But this is just common run of the mill stuff.

Not sure if you can get the parts you need from Kingwood Country. But they are awesome to deal with, and fast delivery.

SCA, Repco, Autobarn prob even silly sollys have the parts in stock on the shelf. I just got suckered in with the cheap prices. What has this cost them in freight…. 4 seperate parcels.

Of course what all this highlights is the exorbitant price between wholesale and retail, because they're certainly not freighting it out separately at a loss :-(

I think he did OK with pricing

Compared to the prices my wholesaler wants to sell them to me for on my trade account

Datto,

I'm not suggesting Brad got ripped off on price; what I am suggesting is there is a huge mark up from the wholesalers cost to the retail price. I don't know specifics in the automotive industry, but jewelry and clothing are at least 300%, so assuming similar figures, that Z770 fuel filter actually costs your wholesaler about $50 bucks- so they've got plenty of margin to spend $10 bucks on freight and send it out separately!

I hear ya

Probably costs Ryco less than $10 to have made overseas somewhere too

Point is... box retails them for less than I can buy them... then I have to try mark them up and sell

Which makes it hard for me when everyone tells me they can buy it on the net cheaper

Prices a wholesaler or retailer pay often depends on the volume of purchases they make.

In my game, I could buy stuff from a reseller cheaper than what I could buy from the supplier of the OEM parts.

The reseller got a bigger discount from the OEM supplier, and still made a profit selling to me.

I could save more than 25% on some parts by going to the reseller.

These were all OEM branded parts, not copies.

Same warranty from OEM supplier and all.

One of my biggest savings was a regularly replaced pump.

$550 from the OEM supplier.

$50 for the same part from a different source.

Cheers

Rob

The remaining parts arrived today. 28th Feb - 9th May to supply items that were advised as “in-stock” at time of purchase.
