I have a fully manual trimatic but the modulator is leaking. It is not connected to vacuum so do I need it at all?
Do i need to replace it or can i just screw in a plug?

The purpose of the vacuum modulator is to alter the shift pattern according to throttle position.

As your trans is manual, I'd say yes.

I am going to answer my own question.

So after lots of reading and getting conflicting info i called a auto trans rebuilder who said to replace the modulator and not plug the hole. Doesn’t matter if its an old one or a new one, even though i don’t use it it is still needed on the box. He mentioned something about the line pressure being very high and the risk of cracking the housing.

Auto transmissions are a big box of magic. I have no idea what is going on inside so i will follow his advice and put a new modulator on the box.
