Yum.

Hopefully a LC/LJ coupe cops a nice guard cut and sheetmetal flares to fit these badboys under it.

Whitehorse Industries in Lilydale VIC will spin up new alluminium bands. I've got their bands/lips/barrels, whatever you want to call them on two of my cars currently.

I actually think the wheels in this ad are steel-banded rather than ally-banded, which would suck.

Part of the reason Tim (RIM-010) didn't bother restoring some original Mawers that he found was that they were steel, and just got his hands on new CNC'd centres and did it that way. They probably had a more common flange size, flange PCD, etc. as well.

Do you know what new bands cost from Whitehorse ? I tried to ring them numerous times a few weeks ago and they never answered. I was after some outers for some Simmons I got . Its going to cost about $200 a rim to polish the outers back to new

Thanks for that Heath.i was just looking through weld wheels site last night and came across 13' bands that could quite possibly fit the mawer centres and purchase them undrilled where the centre bolts up if they had the correct bs and width you wanted.Attached File  Screenshot_20220524-182901.jpg   187.33K   3 downloads

Yeah so that's an inner and an outer that are already welded together I suppose.

You need to bore the new spun alluminium bands to suit the spigot of the wheel. Then you drill them to suit the bolts.

Whitehorse will supply this already machined to suit the spigot of your wheel centre. Price varies according to size I think but at a ballpark probably $150-250 per band.

The first time I had a set made up they were less than $1,000 for all 8pcs. :o

But I think those times have changed.

I had a set of these a while ago and was trying to sell them in OZ....No one wanted them and there was no interest, so I left them on the car when I sold it.

Wow. Steel or ally hoops?

Honestly if they're steel I'm not surprised there's no interest. But ally I'd thought people would be climbing over one another for them.

They were steel. But the steel ones were the genuine racing versions... They were chrome and very very thin!

That HR Holden looks siiiiiiiiiiick.

Yeah, well no doubt they're the genuine article. Don't get me wrong, chrome looks cool on wheels but I can't understand someone giving up the unsprung mass advantages of an upgrade to aluminium wheels on any car they're building unless its primary purpose is bouncing over rocks in a winch challenge, lol. I've got some old 15x10" Dragway Indies in the garage with chrome lips and they look so awesome, but the weight of these things is hard to fathom. I don't know if I could actually bring myself to running them on a car because of the effects on the car's dynamics.
